Save Time Getting Ready for a Business Conference

Heading to a business conference? Make a checklist that you can use each and every year when you go. Make adjustments to your list when you return, then file it, and pull it back out again next year. No need to reinvent the wheel.
Here are some ideas for your checklist. Adjust as needed for your personal situation.
Things to do before you leave:
1) Leave a list of travel info, including flight and hotel info, names and numbers of people you are traveling with.
2) Look online at the current airline regulations. Be sure you check the sizes of toiletries allowed. Pack accordingly.
3) Request vegetarian or other special meals.
4) Make a copy of your driver's license, credit cards (front and back), etc. that are in your wallet. Leave this information at home. If you lose your wallet, you will easily be able to cancel all credit cards by making a quick phone call home.
5) Make arrangements for babysitter, house sitter, dog sitter, and for mail.
6) Book 5 - 10 appointments for when you return (you will learn so much, you want to be able to implement it right away!) Have your supplemental materials packed and ready to go.
7) Place a product order. You want your shelves to be fully stocked upon return.
8) Look over the schedule of events and decide what classes and networking events you want to attend.
9) Decide on ONE question you are going to ask everyone you meet.
Things to pack (other than clothes and toiletries):
1) Notebook
2) Camera (with address sticker on it)
3) Phone charger
4) Medications
5) Snacks and mints
6) Customer list
7) Tip money
8) Postcards
9) Aspirin
10) Great attitude
11) Open mind
12) Hotel confirmation and plane ticket
Things to do when you are on the plane returning home:
1) Make your goals and action plan for the coming year. Place your action steps into your calendar. Also, schedule periodic review dates/times in your calendar to help keep you on track.
2) Write down the 3 biggest things your learned/experienced.
3) Write down 1 or 2 things you are going to change in your business.
4) Set your to-do list for when you return.
5) Enter contact info of all the great people you met into your organizer.
6) Take a quick nap - you will need it!
Things to do when you return home:
1) Spend quality time with your family. They missed you!
2) Review this check list, make adjustments, and file.
3) Hit the ground running! It's time to start on your new goals.
The above ideas should help you become more organized for your trip.
