Internet Startup Tactics – Part 1

Are you finding it difficult getting your new Internet business started? Chances are the problem is you are not staying focused and doing things that are productive. This article will help you with both these challenges.
Personally, when I started getting interested in building an online business, I did what most people do. I started doing research.
Heres the problem.
There must be about a million different Internet marketers giving you advice and offering you a new “trick”, “secret” or must-have tool to keep you reading.
And thats the problem! To get your business started, you need to get out of “reading mode” and into “action mode”.
Here are 3 useful tips that can help you.
Tip #1: Cut down the number of people you follow.
When I started out, I was subscribed to at least 30 different email lists. Although reading emails ate up a lot of my time, this did not even include the time I spent researching on forums and reading new products I had bought.
If you are in the same boat, here is an easy solution to help cut down your reading. Choose to follow and learn from a maximum of 3 Internet marketers. Then un-subscribe from all the other lists you are on.
(If you just cant bring yourself to un-subscribe, then use a filter in your email system to move all the other emails somewhere where you wont see them.)
Next, choose to only get courses and learning material from those 3 teachers. This will help you to stay focused on certain techniques and lessen the chance that you will get confused by different theories that may even contradict each other.
Tip #2 – Track your time
If you are the type of person who can easily get caught up in planning, analyzing and researching, the best thing to do is track your time.
How much time are you spending doing busy work and how much time are you spending doing things that will have a real and meaningful impact on your business?
Busy work is things like researching, reading emails, chatting at forums, brainstorming, planning, etc. Meaningful work is any action you take that will have a direct impact on moving you closer to making money! Things like creating content (writing articles, creating a video, writing a viral report) and getting traffic (testing new advertising methods and looking for joint venture partners).
Once you have started to get a better handle on your time, you are ready to try Tip #3.
Tip #3 – Reward yourself
This is so simple and obvious that you can easily miss how powerful it is.
For every 2 hours of taking meaningful action, reward yourself with 1 hour of learning. This does not mean that you have to work on your Internet business 3 hours a day. It can also be 3 hours a week, or 6 hours a week, depending on how much time you have.
What is important is to keep track of your time and be firm with yourself about how much time you are allowed to spend on the “easy work”. You will be amazed at how effective this is.
These simple techniques will help you to become more productive and focused right away. Just remember to cut down on your reading sources, pay attention to the type of work you are doing and reward yourself for doing meaningful work for your business.
Now I want you to try putting these easy strategies into practice for 2 weeks and see for yourself how powerful they are. Let me know how it goes!
